He decided to leave the city, but he couldn’t go together with Aimee. He didn’t know how to say his wife that he’s leaving. He knew that he can’t tell her anything about what’s happening to him, so he had to lie. While his wife was sleeping he wrote to her a letter and left it on the pillow. He called his chief and told that he’s sick and he need a vocation, he hasn’t been on a vocation few years so chief gave him permission. He packed his clothes and everything he needed and went to his lake house, he got it from his parents when they died.
When Aimee woke up he was already gone, she found a letter on the pillow next to her. Fred wrote in letter that he had gone fishing with his friends for several days. Aimee wasn’t surprised because there are times when Fred goes fishing with his friends, only thing that worried Aimee was that this was the first time when Fred left her a note instead of telling it to her himself.
When Fred arrived at Panas, that’s the name of the lake house, it was evening. Fred wasn’t scared that much anymore, because the house was miles away from any civilization and you couldn’t find any people around here even if you needed it. Only times when you can see people here is when there is a hunting season but now it wasn’t. When Fred settled in he called his wife to tell her that everything is alright and his having a great time with his friends. Aimee asked why he didn’t woke her up and told her that he’s going fishing but left a note, Fred knew it coming so he was prepared for that kind of question, he told her that he didn’t wanted to bother her, it was an early morning and she looked so beautiful while sleeping. Aimee was satisfied with that kind of answer and told him to have a great time and she will be waiting him.
It was almost midnight and Fred was preparing for the worst. He locked all doors in the house and even windows. He sat down in the living room next to fireplace and waited. He waited a few hours and nothing happened, suddenly he woke up only in the morning. He realized that he had passed out at night. He started to view his clothes and everything else for blood or something that shouldn’t be there. Everything was clean, doors wasn’t unlocked. He didn’t found anything, but why? He didn’t know why he didn’t change last night. Nothing happened last night it was a normal night. Now this thing that’s happening to him was a bigger mystery than before.
In the mean time Aimee was working, she had night shift again because it was a really intense night, there was a big fire and the hospital was full of injured people. Aimee’s task was to count them all, ask their names and register them. While Aimee was walking from one ward to another she met some one who looked familiar, it was one of the Freds friends. He had burned a little bit his leg while trying to save other people, like Fred he was a policeman. Aimee was surprised why inst he with Fred? She asked him why, he answered that Fred hasn’t told him anything about a fishing trip, and that Fred had told the chief that he’s sick and hes taking a vocation. Aimee started to worry but to make sure that what he told is true she called every friend of the Fred and discovered that he wasn’t telling lies. They all told that they don’t know anything about fishing trip. Aimee got angry because Fred was lying to her and she called him to get some explanations, but no one didn’t answer she started to worry about Fred not only because of the lie he told but because this was the first time when he lied to her and didn’t answer the phone.
She decided to drive to the lake house and see what’s happening. She took a little nap before driving, because she was exhausted, she worked all night and she hadn’t slept for a few hours. When she woke up started to drive to the lake house. It was a long drive, but she managed to make it there ,when she arrived it was past midnight. She saw Fred’s car but not Fred. When she got out from car she knew that something is wrong because there were no lights in the house and the doors were ripped out. She heard a noise inside of the house but she didn’t know what it was. When she called loudly Fred the noise stopped but she could still hear something. It was like someone inside was gasping but not like normal human. She got scared because something might have happened with Fred. She slowly approached the house and heard gasps even louder. She was almost at the door, tonight was a full moon and it was shining brightly, she got to the front doorstep and stopped, the loud gasping didn’t stopped, she knew something had gone wrong, so she slowly took a first step inside the house…
